FOOD PRODUCTION AND SECURITY

TAWLAE being a an association bearing members with multiple discipline are much invoved in projects  related to  Crop production, Livestock and Fisheries, Food processing, Horticulture, Post Harvest and storage and Environment (Climate smart Agriculture, Waste recycling, Forestry and Bee keeping ) All these aim at addressing the issue of food system to support the Government effort in improving food availability  and affordability while combat impediments  towards nutrition and health.

Crop production

TAWLAE focus on empowerment towards improving production using Good Agriculture Practices (GAP), processing of foodstuff for use and income generation.

The association emphasis on Nutrition – sensitive agriculture as food-based approach to emphasize the production of nutritionally nutrient rich foods, encourage dietary diversity, food fortification so as to overcome malnutrition and micronutrient deficiencies in the households.

Agricultural interventions can impact nutrition and health include affordable food access from own-production, food prices and its availability, empowering women on food processing, proper storage and how to manage time and resources as these can lead to changes in nutrition and health.

Livestock and Fisheries

Agricultural research for crop and livestock value chains development activities are focused on improving agricultural productivity and production through market – oriented agricultural development as means for achieving improved and sustainable livelihoods for the rural population.  This is conducted through commodity value chain development, knowledge dissemination practices and management, capacity building, Research and commodity promotion. TAWLAE member have different expertise to support livestock and fisheries activities, This is one of the advantages for which stakeholders can consult   and advised accordingly.
